Our Journey Through Time
Established in 1967, Akhtari's history is one of steady reinvestment rather than overnight success. What began as a small reseller of polythene products has grown into an export packaging manufacturer in Sri Lanka, serving clients well beyond the island. Here are the milestones that got us here.
Humble Beginnings
Founded in 1967 by the late Mr. Saifudeen Ebrahimjee, Akhtari began its humble journey as a small store in Pettah, Colombo as a reseller of basic polythene materials and grocery bags. This modest beginning marked the start of a legacy that has since grown into one of Sri Lanka’s most recognized and trusted packaging companies.
First Big Leap
By 1984, in response to growing customer demand, Akhtari took a significant step forward by investing in a small cutting machine. This enabled the company to begin in-house production of polythene products, enhancing our ability to meet and exceed client expectations
A New Era of Expansion
With rising demand and a growing customer base, Akhtari further expanded its operations in 2000 by opening a factory and warehouse in Kandana. This facility was equipped with a range of essential machinery designed to meet customer requirements and industry standards, significantly boosting our production capacity.
Commitment to Quality Standards
Akhtari is proud to have achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification for the first time in 2010, demonstrating our commitment to delivering high-quality products and maintaining a robust quality management system. This milestone reflected our dedication in meeting international standards and consistently exceeding customer expectations
Elevating Print Quality
To meet evolving market demands and industry standards, Akhtari invested in a state-of-art gravure printing facility equipped with a 9-color machine. This strategic investment positioned us to deliver high-quality prints that consistently meet and exceed customer expectations.
Raising Industry Standards
Continuing our commitment to quality and excellence, in 2018 we further enhanced our capabilities with the upgrade to a CI Flexo printing machine, which facilitated us in delivering superior printing solutions that meet the highest industry standards.
Enhancing R&D Excellence
To meet ever growing quality demands, Akhtari invested upgrading our lab to a state of art facility. Akhtari is now proud to host one of the most well-equipped packaging laboratories in the country, further enhancing our R & D capabilities.
Harnessing Solar Power
Our strategically located factory premises enables us to benefit from solar energy. Our Rooftop solar panel system generates clean, green energy which can be used throughout our premises to further enhance our efficient manufacturing process.
